Hi, I´m Mariana Eichmann Botero!
I am a designer interested in understanding the interactions that occur around me - between humans, things, ideas, objects, etc- . This interest is expressed in my work through the design process, in which curiosity and the desire to understand the things that inspire me are fundamental pillars. I am also interested in the way in which ideas translate into material objects and how these objects come to life when interacting with their surroundings.

Under that perspective, I have developed different projects in several areas of design such as art direction, experience design, strategy and body ornament.

SAVAGE is a jewelery brand that, through timeless and sustainable jewels, treasures and protects the ecological wealth of the Colombian territory that is in a vulnerable situation. The creative process starts from the understanding of the different ecological problems to create objects with meaning that raise awareness and contribute to the cause through 100% green consumption.
I was assistant to the Professor Daniel Ramos in the Body Ornament class, which aims to express concepts through ornamental pieces for the human body. My job was to advise students both conceptually and technically according to each project, and to support the teacher in administrative tasks.

During ExpoArtesanías, the largest fair of handicrafts and cultural products in Colombia, I worked as saleswoman for the designer's jewelry brand Claudia Fajardo, carrying out customer management, inventory and product sales.

Innovation Design

Together with an interdisciplinary team, I developed an innovation proposal for the Guía Académica - a company that advises people when choosing an undergraduate or a graduate program. In this case I helped develop a tool for parents looking for a school for their children. This proposal took into account the rational, social, and psychological parameters according to which parents make their decision.

According to Colombian legislation, every foundation must have a web page in order to publish pertinent documents and make them accessible by the State. In this sense I created the website for the Santiago Vergara Crespo Foundation.

I presented my thesis Life of Things in the exhibition of the best design degree projects of the Universidad de los Andes.
This was a collective exhibition of body ornament pieces in which I presented my project Corporal Constellations.

At the beginning of my career I started studying medicine at the Universidad de los Andes since I feel a great fixation for the human body. The first aid course was one of my lessons in this period of my life.
I have always loved animals, and that is why I began to practice equine training, where I learned that discipline, effort and perseverance build great self satisfaction. In 2009 I became a National champion in the children's category and Champion of the FEI World Dressage Challenge Individual and by groups in my region.
